“Last week my mother and I drove across Iowa to see our family. As a small business owner myself, I was looking for a locally owned motel or hotel to stay at. Checking out different businesses online, I came across Motel Tipton. After looking at their website (info, prices, pictures, “their story”, etc.) and also their facebook page, I was impressed with everything I was seeing. I then made a phone call to them and spoke to Naomi about concerns with getting a room that would accomodate my mother and her current health situation. Naomi was a pleasure to talk to and assured me all would be good for her (me too 🙂). We arrived to meet her and David and had a nice introduction with them. Our room (Deluxe with 2 Queen Beds) was very clean and dressed up nicely (the pictures tell the truth). During our stay, we had several nice chats with Naomi (David was away). Our room was comfortable and checking in and out was a breeze. Do yourself and them a favor. Support the local (independently) owned motel/hotel group and stay at the Motel Tipton. They will treat you right.”

They thought of the little things that most large chains and hotels do not do – free bottled water in the room upon arrival, make-up cloths, bidet, an abundance of pillows, and a nightlight! – as well as generally pleasant amenities such as plush towels, blackout curtains, and fridge/microwave. With gracious hosts, it was an impressive find in this small town.”

“First of all, I just have to say that the owners are welcoming, helpful, and so fun. We only needed a 1 night stay and luckily got the last room available. This motel is clean, fresh, and it really shows a pride in ownership. It has recently been renovated and decorated. It’s cute and comfortable. “Stayed for the Good Makers Market at the fairgrounds! Can’t wait to stay here again next year. It was clean. The shower had shampoo,conditioner, and body wash dispensers in case you are forgetful (like me). Manager was very friendly and understanding. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Very happy guests. Bonus was the Roku for the tv that allowed me to sign into my Netflix/Hulu to watch what I’d like. Definitely recommend.”

“The new owners are AWESOME people! Shelly and Blake are implants from Canada, and really do everything they can for guests. Their customer service is what all businesses should try to emulate! Blake is a happy, go lucky type Canuck that you want to have a beer with. Shelly is as sweet as can be. Also met their daughter who, as they say, is an apple that didn’t fall far from the tree. They are working on renovating the rooms and the rooms that are done, are done well. It’s clean, comfortable, and a very reasonable price. They even have bidet’s on the toilets!! This was an older, run down hotel that needed a ton of love and attention. That’s exactly what it’s getting with Blake and Shelly. They take a lot of pride in their work and it shows. It’s not a 5 star hotel, but who really needs all that?!?!?! I travel nearly every week and this hotel is as nice as just about any I’ve stayed in outside the 4 star and up hotels. Not fancy, but very nice. Very clean, very well kept and great ownership!!! You won’t regret staying here!!”
